Amazon, E-Lala and Paytm Small Kirana Store for Grocery Shopping

Amazon’s new beginning for offline retailers, 7 crore small kirana grocery shops are fighting to survive in Covid-19 period. Amazon India has strong online customer seller and buyer base in India Amazon is already working from last 6 months with more than 5000 local shops and online retailers in Bangalore, Mumbai , Delhi, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Surat, Kota, Sahranpur, Faridabad and Varanasi, in between this Amazon India launched “Local Shops on Amazon” to help local small kirana stores / physical stores / retail stores to get more order from their neighbourhood customers in any part of the country from Sunday, 27th April 2020.

A statement came from Amazon India “Recognizing the urgent need during these times, we are pledging INR 10 Crores to immediately expand our pilot to onboard and train any motivated retailer or shopkeeper who is ready to lean forward with us in this exciting journey”

Key benefit

“Local Shops on Amazon” is that customers will get grocery delivery within the same day / next day via courier services as JioMart will give delivery within maximum 48 hours after order confirmation which will increase visibility, flexibility and boost sales.

How Local Shops on Amazon works

  • Create an account for selling on amazon
  • Upload your product details and set a price.
  • Choose area / region for delivery and minimum to maximum days for grocery delivery.
  • Deliver order once get them.
  • Amazon will resolve all queries and help to get more customers.


The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) launched in November 2015 as a step towards digital india initiative. Almost 7 crore small shops and 50,000 traders are associated with CAIT. E-Lala shopping portal is able to deliver groceries from local shops to customer places.


“Contactless in-store ordering” was launched by Paytm on Sunday, 28th April 2020 to help and revive local restaurants and eateries and minimise contact in restaurants. Paytm has a wide reach of customer base in India cities and villages. Company developed QR code to access the restaurant digital menu directly in mobile without any contact and customers can pay via Paytm UPI, Paytm Wallet, net banking or cards by maintaining social distancing. Paytm already onboard with 1 lakh restaurants and plans to tap 30 more cities to start with after lockdown ends.

Paytm Mall said, “we are in partnership with over 10,000 kirana stores, small shops, and businesses for hyperlocal delivery. The company has been investing in scaling up its hyperlocal operations over the past few weeks and is now offering delivery of grocery essentials in more than 100 cities and plans to scale it to more cities within the next few weeks.”

D-mart Location and Phone Numbers

Leading logistics players Gati, Ecom Express, Delhivery, Bluedart and FedEx are also working with Paytm Mall for faster delivery from small kirana stores. As more delivery executives join work, a more order would be eligible for same day delivery.
